The longevity and tone of a marimba depend entirely on the treatment of its wood. At IM Marimba Workshop, we source premium African hardwoods selected exclusively for their tight grain structure and dense acoustic properties. Our timber undergoes a strict, patient seasoning process to eliminate internal moisture before cutting, which prevents the bars from warping or cracking over time in changing climates.
Furthermore, our workshop employs advanced overtone tuning methods. Each individual note bar is tuned not just for its fundamental frequency, but harmonized with its overtones to ensure that when a student strikes a note, it sings with a clean, clear, resonant ring rather than a dead thud. This strict attention to detail makes our marimbas easier to play, more inspiring to learn on, and exceptionally long-lasting.
